I was selected by Elizabeth Haidle to illustrate a fictional map for Illustoria’s thirteenth issue. I was inspired by ancient Arabic and Turkish maps and Persian mythology.
The simurgh, a giant, healing bird, and two peris (fairies) stop an ancient chaos held captive at the center of the island from escaping.
